Beer Guide and Styles

Simply putting, the beer style is a name that has been given to the overall character and even the time of origination of the drink i.e. beer. Not a very new name or practice, this has been named after centuries of experience people have had from the trial and error, marketing and also the acceptance the consumers have shown to this fav drink.

Literally there are more than hundreds of different beer styles to choose from today. The beer basically is made from four ingredients viz. Water, hops, malted barley and yeast. The factors that actually are marked as the deciders in the style of beer are the type and amount of the malt employed also the type, method of addition and amount of hops is used and even the strain of yeast added during fermentation.

The beers are given a more broader range in types by adding specialty grains i.e. malts differently that altogether adds a whole new color and flavor to the drink. People often use spices, candies, fruit juices and about anything into beers called as specialty beers.

Beer is mostly categorized into three types that are called as Lagers, Ales and the others left fall in the class of Specialty beers. The difference between the first two lies in the type of yeast strain employed during fermentation in the production step.
